MermAId technology was originally developed for the US Navy’s Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) program. This technology uses sophisticated AI to give USVs the ability to communicate autonomously with manned ships in real time.

Working with the Navy naturally led us into the commercial maritime industry, where we saw a clear need to improve VHF communications across all maritime scenarios. This insight led to the launch of Mermaid Underway, our first commercial product designed to enhance safety and situational awareness for vessels of every size.

A few months later, we expanded our capabilities with the SafeComm and the Essential, created in response to the growing need to improve land‑mobile radio communications by integrating  our advanced translation, transcription, and playback features.
